These butterfly cake toppers are adorable and so easy to create. They are perfect for a butterfly or garden themed party or just because! And the best part is that they take under an hour to make. Let’s get started!

What you will need:
- DCWV Petal Paper Poppy (354599)
- DCWV Petal Paper Daffodils (354595)
- Lollipop sticks
- Gold wire
- Pliers
- Markers in orange, yellow, and black
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors or electronic die cutting machine

Step 1: Cut butterfly base shape from Petal Paper using scissors or an electronic die cutting machine. Notice how the butterfly base shape is just a square rotated 45 degrees with a smaller circle welded on the bottom corner. Make sure to cut so the grain of the Petal Paper runs horizontally across the shape.

Step 2: Accordion fold the butterfly starting at the bottom (circle end) and moving toward the top.

Step 3: Cut a small piece of gold wire and wrap around center of the butterfly. Twist to secure. Leave ends long to serve as antennae.

Step 4: Open up the accordion folds on each side to create wings. Stretch across the grain to give dimension to the wings.

Step 5: Use markers to add color and details to the butterfly wings as desired.

Step 6: Use hot glue to adhere each butterfly to a lollipop stick.

Step 7: Repeat to create as many butterfly toppers as desired.

That’s it! We hope you found some project inspiration here today. Happy crafting!
